Responsible for surveillance and analysis to identify, prevent, and control healthcare associated infections in patients and staff. The preventionist interacts with patients, hospital staff, physicians, and other including community agencies and county health departments. This occurs through department rounds, construction rounds, meetings and referrals. Participates in and presents education to hospital employees regarding infection control and prevention. Has knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements. Monitors adherence to standards and communicates pertinent information to members of the Infection Control and Safety Committee regularly.
