Department Overview



Position Summary

The Security Operations Manager position is an operations leader to support the organization and the team to ensure a high level of service and strategic initiatives are executed. Incumbent will be responsible for leading the following operational initiatives for the department: training program, administrative and criminal investigations, hospital location risk assessments, partner to provide protection to executives, provides leaders with analytical stats, trends and compliance data, and leads the Ambulatory Security team.

The Security Operations Manager will perform all duties assigned by the Director of Security and will assist and cover other Security Managers as needed. This position serves all Children's hospital, clinic and administrative locations.

*Excellent multi-tasking abilities and prioritization skills to set priorities in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment
*Diverse knowledge of security systems, operations and practices
*Know physical security systems (access control, video monitoring)
*Know security officer tools (Taser, Body Worn Camera, Spray, Handcuffs)
*Excellent verbal, writing and computer skills
*Able to prepare verbal and written reports
*Able to pass CPR testing, handcuffing and chemical agent training
*Must complete and pass Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training within 90 days of hire
*Must be able to wear respiratory protection (N-95 respirator, full face respirator and PAPR), be fit tested and able to pass respirator physical
*Must possess a valid driver's license as required in the state (must meet minimum criteria of Children's Fleet Management Policy)
*Must be able to successfully pass background checks of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS)
*Must be able to work a minimum of one weekend a month

Education:
*Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in (Criminal Justice, Security management, Security Administrations or related field) preferred
*High school diploma or equivalent required

License/Certification Preferences:
*Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification
*Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), a plus
*International Association of Hospital Safety and Security (Basic)

Experience:
*Prior experience in a security, public safety, or security operations field required
*Prior experience in an operational role within security operations
*A minimum of 5 years of security or law enforcement operations or program management experience
*Prior experience responding and intervening in emergency situations such as crisis de-escalation, intervention, detainment of suspects, reporting and investigating incidents, and enforcing organizational policy preferred
*Emergency Operations Center experience preferred
*Healthcare knowledge/experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people at various social levels and across diverse cultures
*Strong customer service and results orientation
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Ability to comprehend organizational policies, procedures, and concepts
*Knowledge of security operations and procedures
*Knowledge or experience managing access control and video surveillance systems
*Ability to represent Children's within professional organizations and at special events
*Ability to maintain accurate records
*Ability to work with external vendors and contractors
*Ability to work independently and as a team
*Ability to retain knowledge, information, and directions on an ongoing basis and communicate effectively with others
*Knowledge of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques, use of force continuum, and arrest laws
*Ability to travel to various Children's locations
*Effectively communicates and interacts with emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel as required
*Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job
