Geisinger's Department of Population Health Sciences is recruiting a full-time, non-faculty PhD Biostatistician. Will also consider an experienced MS level candidate. The Department currently consists of nine full-time and four clinical faculty members with expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, and health economics. The department also has a Biostatistics Core that is staffed with an additional seven MS and PhD biostatisticians. There is a strong interest to expand capabilities in pragmatic clinical trials, observational data analysis and casual modeling for the evaluation of Geisinger's large clinical initiatives. The Biostatistician will assist research faculty and clinical leadership throughout all stages of program evaluation from design to analysis and interpretation to presentation of results. The successful candidate also will provide training in biostatistical methods and mentor junior biostatisticians. Specifically, the individual will participate in study design, sample size and power estimation, analysis plan writing, data collection design, randomization, data management, and biostatistical analysis. Experience in observational data methods for electronic health record data (propensity scores, causal modeling, g-estimation, or marginal structural models) are essential. Experience managing large datasets in a healthcare environment preferred. Will consider remote working environment.
Job Duties
Advanced skills and knowledge in biostatistics, statistical methods in medical and clinical research, and clinical epidemiology

Possesses the critical thinking skills needed to provide statistical support to clinical investigators
Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills
Independently uses time management and organizational skills to successfully prioritize concurrent projects
Demonstrates sound judgment and resourcefulness
Provide statistical expertise for research efforts
Makes recommendations for optimal study designs, develops statistical analysis plans, interprets findings, and prepares written technical and statistical reports
Assists in the development of research topics in collaboration with internal and external investigators leading to funding support, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations at national meetings
Responsible for directing biostatistical and/or data analysts in planning and implementing statistical analyses, summarizing results, and reporting findings to investigators
Responsible for database design, management and data analysis
Provides data analysis and summary reports
Participate in committees
Performs critical review of competitive protocol submissions
Provides continuing education to staff
Provides resource materials and brief consultations upon request
