Epidemiologist, Infection Control
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in every 25 patients admitted to acute-care hospitals in the United States each year acquire infections that were not related to the condition for which they were hospitalized. Approximately 1.7 million healthcare-associated infections (HAI) occur in U.S. hospitals each year, resulting in 99,000 deaths and an estimated $20 billion in healthcare costs. Although the precise causes HAIs are difficult to identify, experts believe that about a third could be prevented using current recommendations. The goal of Memorial Sloan Ketterings Infection Control program is to provide the safest healthcare environment for our patients by using evidence-based guidelines to prevent HAIs and to engage in clinical and translational research to further the mission of infection prevention among oncology settings. We are seeking an Epidemiologist for our Infection Control program . This is a crucial role for a high-visibility area of the hospital. Could this be you? You will:
