Vice President Supply Chain - Vanderbilt Health Purchasing Collaborative
Vanderbilt University Medical Center Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a strong experienced leader for a Vice President Supply Chain. This role requires extensive healthcare supply chain and group purchasing experience., Strong healthcare knowledge, leadership and a background that includes strategic process improvements and verifiable results in a healthcare specific supply chain role.
The role of the Vice President Supply Chain must be an innovative and dynamic leader who is unafraid to do things differently. That includes strategic direction of the collaborative, determining future business structure and initiating change to best practice adoption and education.
Department Summary: The Vanderbilt Health Purchasing Collaborative is a National organization that supports 59 member hospitals, 5600 clinics, 37 retirement communities and 47 ambulatory surgery centers. Vanderbilt Health Purchasing Collaborative drives value through aggregating volume and sharing collective best practices. The Collaborative defines and implement synergies that result in lower supply, pharmaceutical and purchased services expenses which promote lower health costs while supporting high quality care within our communities.
Identify and analyze opportunities in terms of financial, strategic and business impact on VHPC
Follow trends and analyze data, making appropriate recommendations for partnerships or alliances.
Develop proposals and business plans that may lead to joint ventures, or start-ups, if applicable, that are consistent with the mission and values of the parent company VUMC.
Actively participate in developing, maintaining, updating and achieving short and long term goals for assigned areas.
Present proposals to senior management for approval.
Provide leadership over specific business segments by managing projects, fostering innovation, initiating improvement and developing new programs.
Participate in and/or lead teams in the development of opportunities, oversight of implementation of new projects and/or day to day operations.
Develop excellent professional relationships with relevant entities and individuals.
Analyze potential business relationships. Advance projects by developing and securing agreement on project plans and managing the process to these plans.
Lead and/or contribute to financial analyses that adhere to all pertinent regulatory requirements.
Lead efforts to develop term sheets regarding structure, legal documentation, and implementation plans. Ensure appropriate handoff to the designated management structure within the institution or business that will oversee the ongoing operations.
Participate in and/or lead the start-up of new operations as needed.
Provide operational oversight as needed and corporate support for existing and future entities.
Participate and cooperate with the designated VUMC Department of Finance work group to provide financial oversight and ensure regulatory compliance.
Lead budgeting, facilities, and equipment investment and resource allocation decisions.
Participate in the hiring of key managers.
Ensure that appropriate financial management and quality control mechanisms are developed, monitored and revised for assigned areas.
Ensure that financial performance of assigned areas meets or exceeds budget in regard to revenue and expense.
Maintain personal competencies through participation in professional, industry and/or community affairs keeping abreast of trends and changing practices in the healthcare industry.
Show commitment to professional self-development through the advancement and active involvement in various healthcare associations and professional groups.
Serve as a link between the management team and boards for the established entities where applicable.
Verify appropriate policies and procedures are in place to maximize efficiency and provide adequate financial controls.
Ensure regulatory corporate compliance of all staff, entities and boards as applicable.
Oversee scheduling entity Boards as applicable.
Facilitate information flow to Boards, as applicable, and function as a link between the management team and board for the established entities.
Provide information required for the boards to perform their functions as applicable.
