I am looking for a postdoctoral candidate to study the role of innate immune activation in focal cerebral ischemia. My lab aims to understand the temporal kinetics, and the cellular mechanisms underlying innate immune activation, during acute and chronic focal cerebral ischemia. These studies will lay the groundwork for the development of novel therapeutics for the attenuation of tissue damage in the acute phase of stroke and drugs to potentiate recovery during the chronic phase of stroke. We welcome candidates with experience in the middle cerebral artery occlusion model in rodents, as well as experience with various molecular biology techniques including Western blotting, PCR and tissue culture.
