HealthCore, Inc, a health services research firm headquartered in Wilmington, DE is currently seeking a Researcher or Senior Researcher to work for its Translational Research for Affordability and Quality (TRAQ) group in our Wilmington, DE office. Founded in 1996, and now an independently-operating subsidiary of Anthem, Inc.,HealthCore provides the health care system, biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and the Federal Government agencies (PCORI, FDA, NIH) with "real-world" data to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare. HealthCore’s projects range from retrospective to large-scale, prospective studies in the areas of drug, and medical device safety, health outcomes and comparative effectiveness research.
Responsibilities vary with the position and include: • Performing retrospective and prospective health services, health outcomes, and health economic research activities on studies. • Conducting quantitative program evaluation of clinically-oriented public health interventions. • Supporting clinical effectiveness research (CER) activities of drugs, devices or services in the following areas: research designs, methodologies, analytical techniques and reporting statistical results. • Writing research reports on studies funded by government agencies (such as PCORI, NIH, FDA) and Foundations or writing portions of grant applications (such as statistical analysis plans). • Collaborating with team members to support research functions that bring high quality analyses, reports, peer-reviewed publications, presentations to clients and at professional meetings, and other milestones to fruition • Utilizing industry standards as well as cutting-edge program evaluation and statistical analysis techniques such as difference-in-difference analysis and propensity score matching. • Supporting HealthCore’s participation in FDA’s Sentinel Initiative, which uses information from existing electronic healthcare data to assess the safety of FDA-approved medical products (https://www.sentinelinitiative.org/). Specific responsibilities include participation in drafting responses to RFPs, supporting selected project manager functions (e.g. ensuring timely deliverables, interfacing with company shared resources to complete project objectives, communicating project status with government client), executing Sentinel SAS queries and quality-checking the results, and participating in Sentinel workgroup opportunities to contribute intellectually to Sentinel’s evolution.
Qualifications This position requires a masters or doctoral level degree or relevant education in program evaluation and/or equivalent training in public health, health services research, biostatistics, or a related field, plus 1-2 years of experience (number of years of experience required depends on position level).
Post-graduate or post-doctoral training in conducting quantitative program evaluation with experience in biostatistics or health services research, managed care, PBM, pharmaceutical, or related experience is preferred. Experience with research grant writing is preferred. Experience with research report writing on funded studies is preferred. Strong study design, statistical analysis skills and proficiency with one or more statistical applications (SAS, Stata,R) are required. Experience with health plan administrative databases (pharmacy and medical claims) and patient reported outcomes is preferred. Experience with the Sentinel Initiative or other distributed research databases and common data models (e.g., PCORnet) is preferred.
