Neuroscience research group is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate with a focus on research aims to understand how drugs of abuse and stress mediate behavioral, molecular, and cellular plasticity. A multifaceted approach from molecules to behavior is used. Techniques used in the lab include animal behavior, confocal microscopy, gene therapy, and molecular techniques to help elucidate how drugs of abuse hijack the brain's reward pathway. Our laboratory specializes in applying advanced molecular/viral manipulations to sophisticated behaviors, most often in rodent models of drug seeking and relapse-like behaviors. Applicants should have a deep enthusiasm for investigating the cellular & behavioral mechanisms of psychiatric disorders.

Our laboratory is located in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomdical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, a research-intensive public university and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU). PhD with research experience in the handling and use of animals is preferred. Experience and/or an interest in molecular methods and experience in small rodent surgical methods would be an advantage. Other preferred characteristics include: excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong publication record and proven ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team.
