Our Enterprise legal team is looking for a qualified attorney with life science experience to provide preventative products liability counseling and products liability litigation management support to the Gore Medical Products Division (MPD). This individual will also support the provision of legal guidance within MPD regarding life science regulatory and compliance obligations.
Practice areas include products liability counseling throughout the medical device product lifecycle - from product concept through commercialization through product exit - handling product related claims and related litigation management, advising on product liability issues in advertising and promotional material review, and counseling on product liability issues relating to regulatory and compliance matters.
The position is ideally located in Arizona (either Phoenix or Flagstaff), but is global in scope. For the right candidate, we would consider a remote work arrangement if there is a willingness to do increased travel.
The ideal candidate will:
Have direct product liability litigation and counseling experience
Have experience developing and implementing medical device product liability training and other preventative training
Have an understanding of the regulatory and compliance obligations of a medical device manufacturer
Have worked for a life sciences company
Providing proactive product liability counseling and sustainable training to the MPD businesses and medical functions such as the Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, Office of Medical Affairs, Product Surveillance, and Compliance
Managing claims and complex litigation relating to Gore Medical Products including managing outside counsel, budgeting, billing, and client reporting
Maintaining current knowledge of medical device industry litigation trends and advising legal team colleagues and business clients on related risks and best practices
Providing products liability advice relating to research and commercialization of new medical products - reviewing and advising on web-based, digital and traditional advertising, and promotional and marketing materials
Providing back up to in-house regulatory lawyers either directly or through the management of outside regulatory counsel, and providing products liability advice to Gore's Pharm Bio business
Required Job Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Admitted to a U.S. state bar as an active member
A minimum of 10 years experience as an attorney, which must include:
Hands-on experience conducting litigation, including significant court, trial and mediation expertise
At least 5 years of product liability experience in-house or as outside counsel representing medical device or pharmaceutical companies, including leading counseling and litigation management efforts aimed at achieving business objectives and managing product liability risk
Understanding of the regulatory and compliance obligations of a medical device manufacturer
Demonstrated experience in optimizing the provision of legal services to diverse business teams and the ability to design processes to help achieve that end
Ability to travel up to 20%, including some globally
