This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), a small elite group of senior government leaders who possess a diverse portfolio of experience and the strong skills required to lead across organizations. This cadre of dedicated executives is charged with providing strategic leadership and upholding a commitment to public service that transcends loyalty to a specific agency mission or individual profession. As an SES member you will influence the direction of innovation and transformation of the federal government and lead the next generation of public servants. This position is located in the Center for Medicare (CM) within CMS, in Baltimore (Woodlawn), MD.
As the Deputy Center Director, CM, you will oversee the development and publication of Federal regulations, national policies, program requirements, procedures and operations guidance for the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit and Medicare Advantage programs, and for Federal qualifications to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries are correctly enrolled; and ensure private prescription drug and health plans offered to individuals directly and through employer groups provide appropriate Medicare coverage and are paid appropriately for services provided.
You will provide leadership and executive direction for developing national policies for all Medicare Parts A, B, C and D beneficiary eligibility, enrollment and entitlement; premium billing and collection; coordination of benefits; rights and protections; dispute resolution process; and policy for managed care enrollment and disenrollment to assure the effective administration of the Medicare program, including the development of related legislative proposals. In this leadership role, the incumbent will provide national leadership and strategic direction for agency policy, operations and contractor management for private prescription drug and health plans, including policies and operations related to all employer-sponsored prescription drug coverage for Medicare eligible retirees.
