We are recruiting for a Manager, Medical Staff Services to join our Hospital Division in Louisville, KY.
Summary: Plans, organizes, manages and coordinates the credentialing and privileging processes for the Hospital Division. Manages the daily operations of the credentials verification office (CVO).
Develops and improves systems for accurate and timely medical staff credentialing.
Primary management and oversight of the credentials verification office (CVO).
Selects, trains, and develops employees for the credentialing office. Provides for performance improvement of staff as needed.
Provides consulting services in the area of medical staff office practices and credentialing to hospital leadership, medical staff coordinators and appropriate personnel.
Investigates trends and developments in the fields of medical staff office management and credentialing and participates in the development of operation manuals, outline methods, procedures, and techniques reflecting applicable advances in each field to guide professional and technical staff.
Maintains working knowledge of state, CMS, Joint Commission and facility requirements for medical staff credentialing, and assures that staff has the appropriate knowledge to complete their tasks.
Assists with medical staff bylaws and rules and regulations updates as related to medical staff office and credentialing.
Monitors credentialing system database to assure data integrity and resolution of missing and/or inconsistent information. Makes recommendations for systems updates/new software as appropriate.
Establish system monitoring tools and policies that manage outcomes including immediate and consistent follow-up when requirements are not met.
Effectively communicates common problems and their resolutions to the field regarding widespread errors or trends.
Identifies the need for and facilitates training for new medical staff coordinators and continuing education for all medical staff coordinators.
Provides technical support to medical staff coordinators and other appropriate hospital personnel.
Maintains systems security.
Performs site visits as needed for the purpose of education and training.
Identifies potential risk management situations and reports to appropriate leadership at facility and development levels.
Knowledge of the principles of medical staff credentialing and medical staff office management in order to plan, organize, direct, and control the processes to meet standards of accrediting agencies such as the Joint Commission. Expertise and credentials in medical staff credentialing.
Ability to manage employees in such a way as to promote a good working environment, effective delivery of results, and timely and accurate credentialing of medical staff files.
Participates in hospital credentialing meetings as needed.
Ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet job demands.
Ability to communicate effectively and present information in an organized manner on a routine basis.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or physician information to assure physician and/or employee rights are protected.
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with peers, superiors and subordinates while working under stressful situations.
Ability to manage several projects/tasks simultaneously.
Technical understanding of medical staff credentialing program (hardware and software) and is first call to support when these malfunction.
Communicates effectively and exhibits courteous behavior when dealing with medical staff coordinators, as well as physician and hospital employees served.
Approximate percent of time required to travel: 25%
Associate degree in business, health information management or related field required. Bachelors degree preferred. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS), Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) preferred. May accept Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or other health related certification.
5 years medical staff office, credentialing, and privileging experience in an acute care, multi-disciplinary setting. Prior management experienced required.
